I Didn’t Tell My Husband
Dressed to match the vibe at the old school skating rink.🤩
On a Saturday morning in early January, I told my husband I was going to run errands. I left the house, and instead of going to Costco or the post office, I went to the skating rink. The shady-looking one off of 38th Street.😬
At 11:30 A.M., I laced up a pair of rented skates and joined a Learn to Skate class with two preschoolers, an eleven-year-old boy who kept falling over, and a cute couple who were clearly on a second date. And there was me, a mid-life Mom who hadn’t skated since eighth grade.
That morning, I skated for 75 minutes and got totally hooked. Skating is pure fun and burns as many calories as an Orange Theory 3G class. As I told my friend-group text thread the other day, I’m still building up my skater legs, but I’ve been back to that shady rink every week since, and I’m not mad about it at all.
Oh, and I've since told my husband the truth. He thanked me for not asking him to go skating with me. Anyway, his loss. 🤣
Tell me what fun thing you’ve gotten into recently. Maybe you’ll inspire me to try it, too!

This time last year you might have been worrying about whether or not your skinny jeans were still in season, but this season we know… anything goes! Skinny, straight, boyfriend, barrel, wide leg, wear whatever you love without fear of the fashion police.
Four important things to think about when you’re choosing jeans are:
Inseam Matters – Petite? Look for cropped or ankle-length styles to avoid alterations. Taller? Opt for long or tall-specific jeans.
Rise is Key – High-rise elongates the legs, mid-rise offers versatility, and low-rise gives a relaxed, vintage feel.
Structure vs. Stretch – Rigid denim offers shape and structure, while stretch denim ensures comfort and ease.
Tailoring Makes a Difference – For the perfect length, hem jeans to hit at the ankle bone or slightly below for a clean, polished finish.

My skating journey has been inspired by a woman I saw on Instagram during the pandemic. She was skating with grace, and joy and she looked so fluid and free. I sat with that vision for years until I finally decided to trust my gut and give it a try.
Maybe she’ll inspire you, too.
